The procedure leading to the decision which artist's project can be considered for a bank note series leading to the final issue of such an emission is long and technically very complicated. Many hours of work and intermediate steps that, in an advanced stage lead to a provisional printing are necessary. It is a fortunate circumstance that the former director of the Swiss National Bank, Michel de Rivaz, wrote a book about the creation of the Swiss bank notes from 1907 - 1997 in which he illustrated several patterns that would otherwise have not become public. Of the two patterns presented there, our note is identical with the obverse, however the reverse differs in small details of the position of the individual motifs. This, once more, illustrates how many intermediate steps such a project encompasses. The reverse shows, in comparison with the obverse, in the legend SCHWEIZERISCHE NATIONALBANK individual positioning lines, what leads to the conclusion that this pattern is of an early stage.
