Marshall Islands 25 Cents o. J. / ND (1952). Nuklerare Symbole und Wertangabe 50, in der Mitte eine Palme in Form eines Atompilzes. Revers. Zusammenprall zweier nuklearer Partikel/atomic symbols and palm tree, stylizised in an atomic cloud/ revers, two nuclear particles bombarding the core of the explosion. Selten / rare. -II / nearly extremely fine.

Zwischen 1947 und 1962 führten die USA auf dem Bikini-Atoll und dem Eniwetok Atoll mehrere Atom- und Wasserstoffbombentests durch. Für die Forscher und die Marinesoldaten stand auf den Japtan Inseln (Eniwetok Atoll) ein Strand mit Bar als Erholungsgebiet zu Verfügung mit Ausblick auf ein Schiffswrack. Diese Banknoten wurden an Bord des Schiffs USS Estes gedruckt und wurden von den Einheimischen als Geld für den Kauf ihrer Produkte akzeptiert/from 1947 to 1962 the US used the Bikini and the Eniwetok Islands for their atomic tests. Japtan Islands (part of Eniwetok Islands) served as a place for rest and recuperation for the sailors and the scientists. There was only a bar and a beach and a ship wreck. The banknotes were printed aboard of the ship USS Estes and were used to pay the products of the natives.

In der New York Times vom 12. August 1862 stand (übers.): Die Regierung hat Col. SWAIN den Auftrag übergeben sein Regiment der Kavallerie auf die maximale Anzahl von zwölf Kompanien von jeweils 100 Mann zu erhöhen. Dieses Regiment ist jetzt im aktiven Dienst, unter General Wadsworth, und ist die montierte Provost-Guard von Washington. Es ist sehr prächtig ausgestattet und ist das einzige freiwillige Kavallerie-Regiment der USA.

Sog. Sutlers waren Kaufleute, die das Militär mit einer Vielzahl von Waren versorgten, welche die Armee selber nicht zuliefern konnte/the New York Times, August 12, 1862 writes: The Government has given authority to Col. SWAIN to increase his regiment of cavalry to the maximum number of twelve companies of 100 each. This regiment is now in active service, under Gen. WADSWORTH, and is the mounted Provost-Guard of Washington. It is most splendidly equipped and mounted, and being the only United States volunteer cavalry regiment.

Sutlers were traveling merchants that followed the armies to supply them with a wide variety of items not supplied by the military.
