Queen Victoria died aged 81 on 22 January 1901, at half past six in the evening, in the presence of her eldest son, Albert Edward, and grandson Wilhelm II. Albert Edward immediately succeeded as Edward VII and became King of the United Kingdom, Emperor of India and therefore King of the British Dominions.
