This medal commemorates the visit of Prince Charles (Stuart) to London in 1752. In that year, another insurrection was planned by the Prince, Alexander Murray, Macdonald of Lochgarry, and Dr. Archibald Cameron. Murray came to England and the other two conspirators went to Scotland. Prince Charles also travelled incognito to London, where he stayed for some weeks. Seeing no hope of the plot having any success, he returned to Paris.
