Mary's death from smallpox in 1694 at the age of 32 left William as sole ruler until his death in 1702, when he was succeeded by Mary's sister, Anne.
This medal has been struck in Germany. Mary is represented by the drooping flag, William by the one still flying and also by the orange on the reverse, the symbol of his family, which still retains its perfume.
