The attempted Spanish invasion of England in 1596 was part of Philip II of Spain’s continued efforts to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I and restore Catholic rule in England. However, this invasion failed before it could reach English shores due to bad weather and logistical failures, and ultimately led to the destruction of the 2nd Spanish Armada.
