Svyatoslav I, also known as Svyatoslav Igorevich, was a prominent ruler of Kievan Rus who reigned from 945 until his death in 972. Born around 942, he was the son of Igor of Kiev and Olga of Kiev, who acted as regent during his early years. Svyatoslav is notable for his military prowess and expansionist policies, which significantly shaped the early medieval state of Kievan Rus.
