S. P. Ting, Taipei (1981) writes: In 1927, in order to raise funds to meet the military expenses for the Northern Expedition, the Ministry of Finance of the National Government issued Treasury Certificates for a total amount of 30 million dollars. [...] Within a period less than three months, the Northern Expedition Force captured Hunan, Hupeh and Kiangsi Provinces.
