Details

The 200 Yuan 1944 banknote (Pick J30) features hidden letters (like the 50 Cents notes from 1940), namely U and S on the reverse and A and C on the obverse. This is interpreted as a protest against the Japanese occupation as United States Army (is) Comming. It is said that the engraver, Mr. Chung Kue-jen, after the discovery by the Japanese, had to flee to Hong Kong until the end of WW II to escape punishment.
