Jean François Antoine Bovy erfand eine Prägetechnik, mit der sich Medaillen in bis dahin unbekannter Grösse herstellen liessen. Er schnitt die Stempel einiger noch heute im Umlauf befindlichen Schweizer Kursmünzen.
