Description

Manuel I, 1143-1180. Electrum aspron trachy 1160/1164 (?), Constantinopolis. Obv. Christ, nimbate, standing facing on dais, wearing tunic and colobium, holding book of Gospels. At his sides two stars and in field IC - XC. Rev. Crowned emperor on l. facing, wearing divitision and loros, sword on his r. side. St. Theodore, nimbate, on r. in military attire, both holding patriarchal cross on globus between them. 4.24 g. Sear 1959. Hendy pl. 13, 5-9. Scyphate form. Very fine-about extremely fine.
