Der Ort Vidalia wurde von Don José Vidal, einem spanischen Adeligen, gegründet, als das Territorium noch unter spanischer Verwaltung stand/Vidalia was founded by the Spanish grandee Don José Vidal, when the territory still was under Spanish rule, befor the US aquired it in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803.
