Details

This error results when an already minted coin is not completely thrown out and by the next minting comes to lie overlapping on the new planchet. Then both pieces are minted and the already minted coin leaves the traces of the double mintage. Such a marked double mintage, especially of Swiss gold coins, is extremely rare.
