This issue in platinum is a contemporary imitation minted by state mint officials. The price of platinum at the end of the 18th century and in the first half of the 19th century was only about 20% of the price of gold. The platinum pieces minted this way were gilded and put into circulation together with the regular gold coins of the same type.
