The five-class (1st to 5th class) Order of Light for Civil and Military Merit with attached three-class (1st to 3rd class) Medal of Merit was instituted in accordance with the classes of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour [Ordre National de la Légion d'honneur] by Reza Shah Pahlevi (1878-1944, reigned from 1925 to 1941) on 15 February 1935. The Order replaced the abolished Order of the Sun and the Lion (Nishan-i-Shir-u-Khorshid). The medals are worn on a green ribbon. With the overthrow of the monarchy in the 1979 Iranian Revolution, this Order disappeared like all other imperial orders of chivalry, decorations and medals

Finest certified by NGC.
