MACEDONIA. Akanthos. Tetradrachm c. 500-480 BC. Lion to left, attacking bull kneeling to right, head lifted and turned back to left; in exergue, flowal ornament. Rv. Quadripartite incuse square. 17.07 g. Desneux 9 (D8/R3). SNG ANS 4 (same dies). A lovely example of vigorous late Archaic style. Minor die breaks on the obverse and with very light doubling. Extremely fine. (~€ 2630/USD 3030) From an old Swiss collection, formed in the mid 20th century, acquired from Dr. H.
